Safety is another motivation behind rule change and the NFL tries to make this aggressive and even violent game as safe as possible by modifying the existing rules and the forms of protective equipment used. However, merchandising is also a factor and the NFL has advocated rule changes, such as a sponsor time out which is a pause in the play of the game, that are solely for the purpose of allowing the sponsor to show commercials.

The NFL decides which cities can have a team and how many teams will make up the two franchises, The Amercan Football League and the National Football League, which originally was the only and prototypic league in American football. Fans have intese loyalties to these two franchises, which is capitalized upon in the yearly Superbowl. This game was established to play upon this rivalry and pits the AFL and NFL Champions against each other. This is held in February and is the single most watched event on American television. It is an event that begins weeks in advance with football interveiws, panels of sports figures who speculate on the game’s outcome, and bettiing oportunities. This hype grows over the weeks of playoff games and builds to a near frenzy by the time Superbowl Sunday arrives.

The game is an all day event with ceremonies and a legendary half time, Las Vegas style, show that features top celebrities. For the multitudes watching at home, the Super Bowl is also augmented by the premeire screening of a collection of the most innovative and often humorous advertising blips. Because of the exposure and the terrific numbers of viewers, the competition to be one of the favored advertisers is nearly as hearty as the team competition to play in this game.

American Football is sweeping the rest of the world and becoming a popular phenomenon in nearly every country. This growth in popularity is slower in countries that have established rugby or soccer francishes but American Football is rapidly becoming as popular as American fast food.

There truly is nothing more exciting than playing football. I get together with my buddies every other Saturday to throw the pigskin around. My position is wide receiver and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

They Want to Drug Your Child!

Anyone who has an interest in what is going on in the world of children’s health has noticed the explosion of medications and diagnosis of children with ADD, ADHD, Asperger syndrome or Autism.  Does is strike you as strange that all of a sudden a huge percentage of otherwise normal and healthy children are being diagnosed with these dire diseases and schools and their associated medical counterparts are prescribing all manner of strange sounding drugs to “fix” these problems?

When we were growing up, just because a kid didn’t sit still in class, the teacher didn’t scream that the child had some disease and demand that he be drugged.  But that is exactly what is happening to thousands of children in public schools all over this country.  And at some point, it’s up to parents to stand up and say, “STOP.  You are not going to keep pumping drugs into our kids just because you can’t control your classrooms.”

If you were to make that kind of statement to a school on behalf of your own child, you would face tremendous amount of pressure to have your child tested medically for one of these “behavioral diseases” so the medical community can cooperate with the schools and prescribe Ritalin, Concerta, Paxel or one of the other common behavior control drugs.  Schools have a fair amount of leverage over us when it comes to forcing us to drug up our kids.  Because these diagnoses are supposedly backed up by medical experts, the schools can maintain that you must comply and get your child on medication or be guilty of child neglect or abuse. 

Because you are required by law to have your child in school, the school knows that the threat of holding a child back, expelling them or putting them in special needs classes each holds a terror that works very well at getting parents to play along with their plan.  Now this is not to say that there are no children who are not good candidates for such medication.  But the use of these drugs is be pushed for such a big percentage of children that its easy to see that what is going on here is nothing short of criminal.

There are plenty of reasons to believe that neither the schools nor the medical “experts” who peddle these drugs are being objective about what your child really needs.   One big clue that your child is not a chronic problem is if he or she is perfectly happy and social at home and the problems only occur at the school.  That tells you that the problem is with the school, not with your child.

We teach our kids to say no to drugs.   So it’s about time we also taught our schools to say no to the idea of drugging up our kids just so they are more pliant in the classroom.  The first thing to do is to take the teeth out of their threats to hold your child back or otherwise punish you or your child.  And that can be done by researching your private school options. 

It might sound harsh but unless your child’s pediatrician that you know and trust have independently diagnosed your child with one of these behavioral problems, the minute the school tries to put that label on your child, it might be time to go.  The last thing you want is to give the public school the leverage to threaten you and try to get away with it. 

And if they begin to loose students because of these threats, maybe they will get the message that parents don’t want their kids pumped full of drugs and that we want our children to learn with all of their mental and emotional faculties fully alive each and every day of their lives.  

Make Pillar Candles

You will also need dye to color the candles and fragrances if you wish to add that to your candles.

You will need quality wick to make pillar candles. The wider the candle you will be making, the wider wick you want. To make this easier, simply purchase a standard type of wick. You can braid three pieces together to make a thicker wick for wider candles. Many of the pillar candle molds have a wick holder built. In simply slide a wick the diameter of the whole into it and eliminate the guess work. Make sure you dip the wick into the melted wax before attaching it to the candle mold. Keeping the wick in place can be tricky. A good trip is to cut the wick several inches longer than you need. Then tie it to a pencil or skewer sitting across the top of the candle mold. This will ensure the wick is centered as the candle begins the cooling process.

Once your candle wax is at the proper temperature, add in anything you want to be including in your candle including dye, scents, and additives. Immediately after, pour the hot wax into the pillar candle molds. Do not pour wax all the way to the top of the mold. You want to leave about four or five inches unfilled.

While for most candles you make, leave the candles to cool. Pillar candles need some further assistance during the cooling process. Once the top of the wax has started to become solid, you will need to add small relief holes to help with shrinkage. If you don’t create the relief holes your candles will get air pockets that keep them from hardening properly.

Once the candles have completely cooled, pour melted wax into the holes you created on the candle. Make sure the wax is about fifteen degrees hotter than what you had the wax at the first time you poured it. Allow the candle to completely cool down again. Your candles should slide out of the molds easily. If they don’t put them in the refrigerator for half an hour. Your candles should be smooth and beautiful. Make sure to trim the wick and you are ready to burn your pillar candles.
